SMART quality preservation of Coffee

An important factor in the quality of coffee beans is the colour of the coffee and the flavour and aroma of the coffee during coffee roasting. The coffee beans are subject to quality degradation during storage and transport. Packaging of the coffee beans in the Oxy-Low SMART liner preserves the initial colour of the beans and the desirable aromas of the coffee and can be stored for long periods without the need for fumigation or infestation from insects or rodents. The complete Oxy-Low system, including packaging equipment and complementary oxygen-barrier SMART liners, packs the coffee beans under modified atmosphere conditions. The system is available for various product and packaging specifications. From big bags and pallets to smaller consumer bags.

 

Preservation of colour, aroma, taste and body of the coffee

Our packaging system helps to maintain the quality and the colour of the green coffee beans. The low oxygen conditions and constant moisture level inside the packaging inhibits the generation of moulds. The packaging supports an extended shelf life and thereby contributes in reducing product spoilage and returns. The coffee maintains its superior quality and good flavour, despite being from a previous harvest.

 

Protection against insect infestation

The Oxy-Low system offers an alternative to chemical warehouse fumigation and protects the product against insect and rodent (re-)infestation. The low oxygen conditions inside the packaging support insect mortality whilst the hermetic sealing protects the coffee from insect (re-)infestation. The need to fumigate a shipping container or warehouse is no longer necessary. Expensive cold storage can also be eliminated.
